Things you should not be doing in 2019

Hey loves! Welcome back to my blog. Hope your week has been going great. Excited because it’s almost weekend, right? Me too.

Last week, we started a series on 2019 Dos and Don’ts and we were able to round up our Dos for the year which I hope you have been actively putting into practice.

This week, we’ll be talking about the don’ts for the year 2019. That is, things you should not be doing this year, (or even ever!).

#1. Keep negative company.
“A friend is a gift you give yourself” –Robert Louis Stevenson

We all know this for a fact; nothing drains faster than negative energy. I’m going to be addressing this from the two sides of the coin. That is, your side, and your friends side.

On your side, you should not be keeping company with people who don’t motivate you to be better or influence you in the right way. This year, my word has basically been ‘peace’. I cut out a lot of people who have not been helping me improve in this area. I was like, if you’re in my life, and all you bring me is fear and anxiety, you’re out.

Don’t stay with people who force you to do what you don’t want to do. i.e wrong things, because there are some friends who will actually force you to doing what you don’t really want to do but in the end, it is all for your good. You should learn to know what you want in your life and what you don’t want. It’s your life, take hold of it. Let go of the fake.

Now on the other side of the coin, your friends. This year, I’m learning not to leech on to people who I’m not necessarily adding any benefit to their life. Like, whatever you don’t want people to do to you, don’t do it to them. You don’t like it when people are just in your life adding nothing, so don’t be the excess garbage in people’s life too. Become of benefit to people, or leave.

#2. Procrastinate.
“I own my own time” –Kyle Chandler-
“Action is the foundational key to all success” –Pablo Picasso

Stop procrastinating. It actually sickens the soul. No, you’re not going to do it later, no, you’re not going to do it next week, you are going to do it NOW.

This is because you never actually get it done ‘later’, you just get more work stress, end up complaining, binge working and not doing the job as well as you planned out.  Want to start something new? Stop saying ; “ ohh, I’ll start when I do this, or when I get this…” Stop laying around doing nothing when you can start it right now. JUST DO IT.

I have procrastinated a lot in my life. Back then, I could be crowned the queen of procrastination, but then I realized I was just being lazy and unfruitful. Nothing was stopping me from doing what I was supposed to do at that moment.

No, it’s not depression, anxiety, lack of money, lack of strength, no motivation, suicidal thoughts, thoughts of failure that are stopping you. You are actually stopping you. Nobody is in your way, now get out there.

#3. DO IT.
“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” Abraham Lincoln-
“It’s always too early to quit” –Norman Vincent Peale-

Don’t give up. Don’t give into those thoughts of suicide, those thoughts of failure and other random insecure thoughts because one day, you’re going to look back and ask yourself “What if I had strove harder? What if I had kept going? What if I’d actually started? What if I had not given up?”

It’s quite a heartbreaking feeling when you wake up one day and see someone becoming very successful, doing the exact same thing you could have done but you choose not to. Yes, you choose not to. Because, everything in life is a choice. You choose to be happy, you choose to be sad, depressed. You choose whether to give up or strive on. It’s your choice. Take that bold step today and make the right choice no matter the odds.

To top this all, I’d be lying to you if I say you can do it on your own. You can’t actually. You do need the presence of a supreme being. God. Commit everything into his hands, follow him when he leads you and watch him catch you even when you fall, because, his shoulder is actually the strongest to lean on. He will never fail you. Just trust in him and all things will work together for your good.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose”Romans 8:28.
